1. What is a tipper semi trailer?

Tipper semi trailers are also called dump trucks, dumper trailers, side tippers, tip trailers, and scrap dump trailers.

A tipper trailer is a trailer with a tipping loading floor, transport and dump materials such as gravel, sand and rubble.

The trailer is capable of moving quickly to transport and dump cargo without dismantling the vehicle.

Tipper trailers are available in many capacities and can reach a maximum load of 90 tons. Thicker plates mean that the tipper trailers have a higher loading capacity.

2. Different types of semi tipper trailers

There are two types of tipper trailers:

(1) Rear tipping trailer

Rear dump trailers, also known as rear dump trailers, work by unloading cargo to the rear. They are typically used to carry construction materials, such as sand and stone, and other materials, such as coal.

Ideally, you can use it to carry industrial raw materials or any other solid material used for construction. Rear dumper trailers are designed to facilitate the unloading process.

Once the rear of your trailer is secured, you can load the cargo in this position. When you reach your destination, the front side of the dump trailer is lifted, thus prompting the cargo to fall off the back.

The bucket of a dump trailer is made of thicker steel plates to hold the weight of the cargo. The hardened steel plates prevent cargo from damaging your trailer.

The length of a rear dump trailer should not exceed 12 meters. Any truck exceeding this length can be dangerous.

(2) Side tipper trailer

The side tipper is an alternative to the rear tipper. This type of dump truck trailer allows you to unload your cargo from the side. Side dumpers can be used to transport solid construction materials, such as sand and stone.

Side dumpers utilize a hydraulic pump and hydraulic motor and have a tipping bucket on one side. The rest of the side gives you the option to open and lock it during work operations.

Where there is not enough space, you may be forced to do a side unload. It helps to save space. The steel plate construction is thick enough to prevent possible damage on trailers with weak plates.

Unlike rear dumpers, side dumpers are suitable for loads with a small tilt angle. However, a side-turner can carry more cargo than a rear-turner.

4. What is a tipper trailer used for?

Tipper trailers are used to help the construction community complete projects quickly, efficiently, and safely. The job of a tipper trailer is to lift and transport loose construction materials such as asphalt, construction aggregates, dirt, grain, gravel, sand, snow, and wood chips around the job site in an efficient and bulk manner.

Tipper trailers are applicable in the construction, agriculture, and recycling industries among many other areas. They come in different shapes and types.

5. How does a tipping trailer work?

Loading operation. When the dump truck is disconnected from the tractor, it cannot be loaded. Otherwise, it is prone to tip over.

Load the dump truck evenly. When filling a dump truck with cargo, it is essential to distribute it evenly and need to make sure it does not tip over.

Before unloading the material from the body, the tractor must be firmly grounded, and the tail and tractor must be perfectly aligned.

Before entirely relieving the dump truck body into the air, one needs to ensure that it does not come into contact with surrounding obstacles. Make sure the pneumatic suspension of the semi-trailer has in a lower position before lifting the dump truck.

When all the proper checks are completed, the load can be unloaded. This needs to be done in one smooth continuous motion. Do not increase the speed of the vehicle while unloading.

When dumping material, checking the dump truck's rear for blockages is essential. If there is a blockage, the dumper may flip over.

If the cargo is blocked and the dumper is raised, do not quickly jerk the vehicle or drive it forward at this time.

The cylinder should only raise and lower the dumper body to release the transported cargo. The body must be reduced immediately after completing unloading. Do not drive with the dumper lifted; moving with the cylinder raised will affect the vehicle's stability.

During operation, the cylinder should not be subjected to lateral forces. The dump truck cylinder should not work for more than 30 minutes at a time.

Do not walk under the vast dump body. After unloading the trailer, fully retract the cylinder.

Ensuring proper use of the hydraulic system will ensure effective use of the dump truck systematized, and adjustment of pressure settings is prohibited.

6. What to look for when buying a tipper trailer

When deciding what kind of dump trailer to buy, a number of factors need to come into play.

Size and weight

Container durability

The tubing of Side Walls

Axle and wheel sizes

Type of rear gate

Couplers and jack

(1)Load Capacity

If you are buying a dump trailer, you probably know how much cargo you intend to carry. This is known as the trailer's payload capacity or carrying capacity. You need to have a trailer with a high payload without compromising the tire weight.

(2)Tare weight

Tare weight is the weight of the trailer. The lighter the trailer, the more fuel efficient it will be. Lighter trailers can also be towed by smaller vehicles and have lower annual scrapping fees. When buying a dump trailer, you want to look for a heavy-duty but lightweight trailer.

(3)Materials

It's essential to look for a dump trailer made of durable materials that can withstand harsh use, heavy materials, and rough conditions. In particular, the base of the trailer needs to be stable, so it won't get scratched when dumping materials. A ground surface can lead to corrosion, which can be very expensive to repair and maintain.

(4)Brakes

Most trailer manufacturers and dealers use overrun brakes on vehicles under 2 tons. Overrun braking is a simple and effective braking system.

(5)Other Features

Self-dumping trailers should be equipped with a crank wheel and tie-down points as a standard feature. The crank wheel will balance the trailer, even if it is not attached to the vehicle. The tie-down points will help secure your cargo and give you peace of mind that your shipment is transported safely.

Over time, your trailer will experience some wear and tear. It may be a good idea to consider purchasing a spare tire for your trailer, and it's always handy to have one nearby in case you need it. Buying a spare tire along with your trailer will also ensure that you are purchasing the correct wheels for your trailer. There are a lot of wheels out there, and not all of them will be compatible with your trailer.

A dump trailer must meet all the job requirements, handle harsh conditions, and last a long time. It's worth buying a quality product first, rather than buying a cheaper alternative with high maintenance and repair costs in the long run.
