Shrink wrap and stretch wrap are two materials that often come up in the same conversation. They carry similar names, so they must fulfill the same purposes, right? Some shipments call for extra protection to preserve the product's external features during transit. Shrink wrap is a packing material usually comprising thick polyolefin plastic (although sometimes it comes in LDPE or PVC depending on the application). Unlike its counterpart, shrink wrap is tense, providing little elasticity compared to stretch wrap. Shrink Wrap Best Uses and Applications

Shrink wrap is most useful for individual items, especially those solely featuring primary packaging. Packers can apply this material by sliding the product between two layers of film and using an L-Sealer machine to cut and seal the shrinkwrap to fit. It then travels through a heat tunnel to shrink the film tight around the product. More automated machinery is available for higher volume applications.
