HDPE vs UHMW

A better material may be StarBoard. This is a plastic sheet designed for boats and comes in black, white, puddy, and grey. This material is a HDPE with elastamers to soften it up some. Still very strong but a lot easer to work than UHMWPE.

UHMWPE can not be hot formed like HDPE. Also UHMWPE can not be welded like HDPE and good old PE can. UHMWPE also is very hard to finish ( sanding ). If you use UHMWPE get your tooling working so there will be no need to finish ( sharp saw blades and router bits ) UHMWPE is available in natural ( white ) and as anti static ( black ). The natural can not be exposed to sunlight the anti staic can. Neither UHMWPE or HDPE can be glued. But both can be drilled and tapped or use self tapping screws like deck screws.A better material may be StarBoard.
