Reversible Bucket Hats

Summer Craft Blog Hop, my mind immediately went to bucket hats! At first, I thought about crocheting a granny square bucket hat, but then I decided to give my hands a rest and sew some instead. I have a bunch of fabric from when I was making masks, so I decided to use some of those fun fabrics to make bucket hats for my kiddos.

I guess bucket hats have made a come back! I remember wearing them while growing up in the 90s. So when I was deciding what to make for this month's, my mind immediately went to bucket hats! At first, I thought about crocheting a granny square bucket hat, but then I decided to give my hands a rest and sew some instead. I have a bunch of fabric from when I was making masks, so I decided to use some of those fun fabrics to make bucket hats for my kiddos.

SUPPLIES:

I downloaded, printed, and cut out the pattern pieces for the Reversible Bucket Hat Pattern by Sweet Red Poppy.

For the first hat, I used two Spider-Man fabrics. I liked using fabrics that are similar in color because when you topstitch the lines on the brim, it'll be great it the thread coordinates well with both fabrics.

I cut out the brim, middle, and top of the hat in the Spider-Man fabrics.

After I cut out all the necessary pieces in the Spider-Man fabric, I cut out the interfacing pieces. I used lite interfacing . As you can see, I was watching the Reversible Bucket Hat Video while creating the hat.

When you iron the interfacing onto the brim pieces, make sure you're ironing with the bumpy/shiny side down!

I stitched the sides together.

I pressed the seams open with my mini iron. I went ahead did the same for the middle pieces.

I placed the two Brim pieces together with right sides together, and sewed around the outside edge.

Then I flipped the pieces with right sides out, and stitched all around the brim. This was my favorite part, but my lines aren't that great.

I pinned the middle piece to the top for each of the fabrics.

 and sewed them together.

Next, I pinned and sewed on the brim to one of the top and middle pieces.

Then I pinned and sewed on the other middle and top piece to the brim leaving about 2 inches unsewn.

Finally, I turned the hat right side out and topstitched the 2 inch hole closed. Then the hat was all done!

My son tried on his new hat, and he loved it. So then I made a couple hats for my daughter.
