China imported 37.83 million tonnes of coal in April, down 16.4% from a year earlier, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs on May 9. Imports also edged down 2.3% from March’s total of 38.73 million tonnes.

Over the first four months of 2025, coal imports stood at 152.67 million tonnes, a 5.3% decline compared to the same period last year.
