EXOdis PC416 is a non-ionic surface active agent used as a dispersing and wetting agent in the paint and varnish industry. The product has the form of a 90% clear aqueous solution, colourless to lightly yellow. The primary application of the product is industrial manufacturing of water-dilutable pigment concentrates. Due to the presence of so called anchoring groups, EXOdis PC416 shows a strong affinity to organic pigments and carbon black, making it especially recommendable for the manufacturing of products based on such pigments.

A high concentration of aromatic groups makes the product perfectly suited as an alternative of alkylphenol etoxylates. A very strong anchoring effects translates to application possibilities – EXOdis PC416 has a tendency to significantly reduce the viscosity of a concentrate, enabling a proportionally higher concentration to be achieved than when using conventional dispersants. At the same time, the product perfectly stabilises the end product, preventing an excessive increase in colorant viscosity and pigment sedimentation in the concentrate during storage. Another advantage of the improved effectiveness of the product is a marked increase in the concentrate’s tinctorial strength, as well as improved colour stability during long-term storage of the product. Additionally, the agent reduces the impact of other factors (e.g. long stirring), which could reduce the tinctorial strength of the concentrate.

As an agent used in finished paint products, EXOdis PC416 is compatible with other paint components, in particular with inorganic pigments and fillers, polyacrylate-based dispersants, rheology modifiers, and anti-foaming agents. This way it provides a high compatibility of the pigment concentrate in the ultimate paint products. EXOdis PC416 is VOC-free and only has a low SVOC content, making it highly fit to use in environmentally friendly paints and varnishes intended for Ecolabel certification. Recommended product use is to add an amount of active ingredient equal to 5-25% of pigment weight in pigment concentrates, depending on the pigment type, and 0.1-1% in end paint products.
