Cleveland Browns Tickets - Mangini Adds New Coaches |
Brian Daboll has been coaching in some capacity since 1997 when he was the restricted earning coach at William & Mary. From there, he spent a couple of years with Nick Saban at Michigan State. The Patriots gave Daboll his first coaching position in the NFL in 2000, giving him the defensive coaching assistant position. He became their wide receivers coach in 2002, a position he kept until 2006. A year after Mangini took the head coaching position with the Jets, Daboll joined the Jets coaching staff as the quarterback’s coach. He worked with greats like Chad Pennington and Brett Favre during his time there, which means he could help revamp that position for the Browns as well.
Rob Ryan started in the college ranks as a graduate assistant at Western Kentucky in 1987. He had the same position with Ohio State in 1988 before taking a position coaching running backs at Tennessee State. He moved to linebackers in 1992 and then defensive line in 1993. He took his first position in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals as their defensive backs coach in 1994 and cornerbacks and safeties coach in 1995. He took his first defensive coordinator position in 1996 with Hutchinson Community College. The next year, he was moved to Oklahoma State to become their defensive coordinator. He put in his time with the Patriots in 2000 through 2003 as their linebackers coach before becoming the defensive coordinator for the Oakland Raiders, a position he held until being added to the Browns staff.
Brad Seely started coaching at his alma mater, South Dakota State, in 1978. In 1979, he became a graduate assistant at Colorado State but moved up to offensive line coach by the next season. In the next few seasons, he spent time with Southern Methodist, North Carolina State and Pacific. He found a longer home at Oklahoma State in 1984, becoming their offensive line coach for five seasons. He transferred to the NFL in 1989 as the Indianapolis Colts special teams and tight ends coach. He held the same position with the Jets in 1884 and then the Carolina Panthers from 1995 to 1998. He was the special teams coach at the Patriots up until being hired by the Browns.
